❓ FAQ

Does compression reduce image dimensions?
Only if needed to hit a target size — "By Quality %" always keeps the original width/height. "By Target Size" tries quality first and only shrinks dimensions as a last resort if quality alone can't get small enough. Use the Image Resizer if you specifically want smaller dimensions.
Which format compresses smallest?
WebP usually gives the smallest file at a given visual quality, followed by JPG. PNG is lossless and stays larger. GIF, BMP, TIFF, EPS and SVG are included for compatibility with specific workflows (icons, print, simple graphics) but aren't good choices for shrinking a photo — the app tells you this if you pick one of them.
Why does the quality slider do nothing for some formats?
Only JPG and WebP support an adjustable lossy-quality setting. PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, EPS, SVG and ICO don't have that lever in the format itself — switch to "By Target Size" for those, which shrinks the image dimensions instead to hit your target.
